Experience Summary
I was a senior scientist - engineer for 37 years.
I retired to care for my comatose wife at home, and she died a few months later.
This situation has left me open to new directions.
My teaching experience has been 3 years as a graduate teaching assistant, and 2 years as a tutor to friends and family in science and mathematics.
My goal is to show how math and science can enrich one's life and these subjects are nothing to fear.
Teaching Style
I follow the method of G. Polya in his classic work "How to Solve It".
By asking the right questions, one can help the student define his problem, form a plan for the solution, carry out the plan, and examine the result.
I also try to work as many difficult problems from the student's text as time permits, in order to show that all problems have a solution, and the student can build confidence in attacking any problem.
I try to present the material in as many ways as needed, so that I can match the subject to the student's style of learning.
