Experience Summary
As an English major at a liberal arts college, I honed my skills as a writer early on. I have been a public relations professional for over 20 years, specializing in writing and editing of all sorts from research papers to news articles and essays. I have excellent grammar and proofreading skills, and have tutored and assisted dozens of students and colleagues in all levels and types of writing. I have taught English as a Foreign Language to students in both Italy and Japan, and I am conversant in French and can teach French grammar. I have also taught advanced PR classes as an adjunct professor at a four-year university.
Teaching Style
I enjoy teaching children from elementary level up through college, especially in writing skills. My real-world experience as a public relations professional is appealing to my students, and I incorporate real-world examples and issues in my lessons. I love to see students realize their potential, and I am adept at assessing their abilities in order to give them the tools they need to succeed. I want to see children enjoy what they are learning, even if the subject is difficult for them. I think it is easier and more fun to "learn by doing"; I do not lecture students, but rather engage them in a way that keeps their attention. I am a patient and understanding teacher and feel confident I can help your child succeed.
