Experience Summary
I have been teaching children in grades Pre-school through the third grade for 14 years. My experiences have been a lead teacher in a Head Start program, private kindergartens, and pre-schools. I have also tutored children in elementary reading, science, and math. My teaching and volunteering experiences have given me an opportunity to encounter with many different types of children and families, such as children with disabilities and family from different income levels. I am familiar with having parent-teacher conferences, collecting work samplings for portfolios, and assessing children within the seven domains of learning. I am also a mom of a six year old.
Teaching Style
I enjoy teaching and working with all children. They are our future. Through my teaching career, I have seen that children learn in many different ways. Some children learn faster than others and there are some children who are visual learners and others who are audio learners. When I first meet children either in a classroom or by tutoring them, I like to give a quick assessment of their learning because that is how I derive my lessons. If a child or a group of children need visual props, I will create them or if a child would need to be challenged then I would extend my lessons and materials academically higher. The way that I teach is age-appropriate and I will never let a child fall behind- I will always let them achieve to their potential.
