Experience Summary
I have teaching experience on all grade levels in urban school districts. I am currently a special education teacher in the Saint Louis Public School District, and I have enjoyed the challenge of working with educationally handicapped students and seeing many of them being mainstreamed into the general education population. I have had the opportunity to incorporate a learning center environment based on student needs, and utilized activity centers for individualized and small group instruction. These efforts helped to improve student achievement and stimulated interest in learning.
Teaching Style
I have worked with students of varied ethnic, social, and economic backgrounds. I lean more towards the Progressive style of teaching in that I teach my students the skills and strategies that will help them become successful in society. I am also aware that my students learn differently, so I differentiate my instructions towards their individual needs.
