Experience Summary
I have a bachelor's degree in acturial science and have studied extensively for acturarial exams. My studies have enabled me to master both higher- and lower-level mathematics and statistics.
My background in paid tutoring includes College Algebra, Elementary statistics and statistical methods, but I've also helped classmates understand physics and chemistry classes. These classes came easy to me, and I feel I am a natural fit for tutoring these subjects as well.
I don't have any experience teaching in a classroom, yet, but as of Aug. 18 I will begin teaching business statistics at Oklahoma State University part-time, while I work on my master's in statistics.
Teaching Style
I love teaching and am comfortable teaching students of all ages. I've learned from tutoring that each student learns in a different way. The great thing about one-on-one or small groups is that the teaching style can be adapted to what 'clicks' with the student. Some need a big-picture, overview explanation before delving into the details, others need a step-by-step methodology.
I believe that every study has the potential to learn if they keep trying and don't become discouraged. Often times, discouragement is the biggest barrier in learning. As a teacher/tutor, I believe patience plays a key role in my success. I'm a natural optimist and hope my positive thinking spills over to the students.
