Experience Summary
Over the past thirty years I have held positions in on-the-job training (OJT) programs, tutoring services(Sylvan) and formal institutions of education. I have trained in air traffic control and scuba, tutored mathematics and taught air traffic control, flight, economics, real estate, business mathematics with statistics, and developmental mathematics to include algebra.
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Education and a Masters’ Degrees in Business Administration and Business Education this with course work in current practices and methodology. Currently, I am instructing developmental mathematics as adjunct faculty for Daytona State College and I also instruct Real Estate for IFREC, Institute of Florida Real Estate Careers.
I am a user/practitioner of mathematics and am often praised for my ability to relay the subject matter in a manner more easily understood by the student(s).
Teaching Style
I am a teacher/instructor by nature. I do not believe there is but one method to solve any problem. I make every attempt to relate the use and application of math to the students’ real world environments and situations. I believe in the demonstration/performance method of instruction: explanation, demonstration, student performance and evaluation. My students are very aware that my goal is their success.
The following is an extraction from a letter written on my behalf by a colleague: “I frequently teach students who have taken prerequisite math courses from Marc, and those students are always very well prepared and do very well. I respect his ability to adapt, innovate and succeed in the classroom. Beyond the classroom, Marc holds informal study sessions with students, generously giving his time to help students succeed. Marc genuinely enjoys teaching, cares about student success and enriching the curriculum. Students flock to his classes and willingly follow his lead to success in math. He has a real-world applications viewpoint and a unique arithmetic operations technique that has proved helpful to students.”
