Experience Summary
I have always had a passion for education, whether it is teaching youth or adults. I have gained about 3 additional years of teaching and now am working in a higher education setting. I hold a degree in special education which focused on the needs of learning disabled students, though required I still maintain the same knowledge of a licensed educator. Along with a degree in special education I own a degree in psychology. Cumulatively, this allows me to grasp a sense of the student’s feelings, emotions and expressions while learning, which in turn makes the session a lot more conducive. I feel I am able to connect with students through their strengths and weaknesses and use that to find the best strategy to ensure excellent learning.
Teaching Style
I like to encourage and support my students. Many students don’t want to learn or do not feel they can succeed. When a student is positive and feels that sense of pride; he will open himself up more to the idea of learning. Secondly, I will always do readings and visuals to stimulate both areas of the brain to ensure it is absorbed. I also believe in repetition of information once a student comprehends what has been learned. Lastly, I like to be consistent. I have always kept the learning styles very similar. I also explain to the student what exactly is expected of him and how I will do things so he will be fully aware. This way we are on the same page as to what the teaching session will entail.
