Experience Summary
As a lifelong learner, I'm always motivated by students who have a curiosity for improving their own skills. I have a BA in liberal arts from Vassar College and a MS in Education from Queens College, which I earned through the full-time work/part-time study New York City Teaching Fellowship. I am fluent in Spanish, conversant in Japanese and French, and am always excited about learning more languages. As a special education teacher, I've worked with large classrooms, team taught with colleagues, and overseen the development of children with more severe disabilities in reading, writing, and math.
Teaching Style
I believe that education should be tailored to the needs, abilities, and learning styles of each student. I believe in consistent positive reinforcement and praise, and in tracking and measuring skills so that students have evidence of their progress. I hope to help students discover the intrinsic rewards of learning, but respect the joy and relief students feel when their goal is passing a difficult subject for promotion.
