Experience Summary
I'm currently attending UTEP, I will graduate in Dec. 2010 in Electrical engineering as well as receiving an Associate of Arts degree from EPCC. I worked for a year and 1/2 at EPCC as a Science, Math and Physics tutor, specifically. The classes that I have taken have provided me with knowledge in areas such as Math: Calculus I, II, III, Differential Equations, Matrix Algebra and history of Math. The Physics courses that I took include Physics I (Engineering Physics I), Physics II (Engineering Physics II), Modern Physics and Electromagnetic Field Theory. Also After participating in several training sessions provided by CRLA (College Reading & Learning Association) I became a CRLA Certified Tutor.
Teaching Style
My experience as a tutor has made me realize how much I enjoy tutoring. Science is my passion and I like sharing the knowledge that I have with those who need a little bit more help in. I feel that as I teach in my own style, I can better explain and help students see the topics/ideas in a different way, as I see it, to help them understand it and apply it better. I believe that no one can truly master something until they can teach it to others. Nothing has given me more satisfaction than when a student returns to me because they appreciate my patience and style of teaching to further help them along their courses. Yet, nothing makes me happier to see them succeed on a test score or on their grade in that course overall.
